At the heart of everything we do is a commitment to nurture human creativity and connection: for physical landscapes, our mission has evolved to affirm our presence as an arts organization rooted in human-led creative everyday people, in every medium, at every stage of their practice.
MISSION
STRATUS is a non-profit organization on a mission to nurture human creativity and connection.
Three reoccurring values have guided us over the years. Without an emphasis on Community, Collaboration, and Creative Process, STRATUS would not have the impact in the way that we do.
VALUES
-
We value creating accessible opportunities for people to come together at a low or no cost, digitally or physically, through events, collaborations, and programs such as the STRATUS PHOTO*LAB and B-SIDE community publication.
We focus on creating programs and services to platform diverse artists, along with showcasing their work at our events.
We deliver inclusive opportunities for people to express themselves, no matter their skill-level, through hosting events and mentorship opportunities to come together and create.
While operating locally and within niches online, we hold responsibility to amplify realities that impact people across the globe through our programs and services which include organizing mutual aid campaigns, interviews, and connection to diverse communities.
-
We value being the bridge for artists between URL and IRL, across identities: to learn from each other and work together collaboratively.
We value empowering people to create opportunities that promote more equitable representation within creative spaces.
We share technical and organizational knowledge to foster lasting and sustainable changes in the arts sector.
We advocate for compensation and recognition of work as foundational to the livelihood of collaborators.
